Committed Tech Ventures, Inc. ("Committed Tech Ventures," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Alma mobile application and related websites and services (together, "Alma" or the "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and disclose it, and the choices and rights available to you.
Committed Tech Ventures, Inc. is a corporation organized in Delaware, United States. For privacy questions or requests, contact media@almaprayer.com.
Privacy at a glance. Alma helps you pray, study the Bible, and build intentional habits. You can create an account and, from within the App, request deletion of your account and associated personal information. Some information is stored on your device; other information is processed to provide accounts, AI features, subscriptions, analytics, and support. Prayer content and spiritual conversations deserve particular care: we do not use the text of your private prayers or AI conversations for targeted advertising. We do not sell that content. The sections below explain the details and limitations.
Committed Tech Ventures, Inc. is the controller of personal information we determine how and why to process, except where another company acts as an independent controller (for example, an app store or payment provider in relation to its own payment operations).

The information we process depends on the features you use and how you interact with Alma.
When you register for or use an Alma account, we may process your email address, name if provided, unique account ID, registration method, sign-in credentials or authentication tokens, account creation date, account status, and account settings. If you sign in through Apple or another identity provider, we receive information permitted by the provider and your selections. We do not need to receive your password from that provider to authenticate you.
Depending on the features you use, Alma may process Bible bookmarks, highlights, notes, favorite verses, reading progress, prayer history, prayer requests, onboarding answers, spiritual goals, and other content you submit. Some of this content may reveal your religious beliefs or other sensitive aspects of your life.
Local storage and account storage are different. Certain information, including bookmarks, highlights, notes, reading progress, and preferences, are stored directly on your device. Information needed for account-based or synchronized features may be processed on our systems or those of our service providers. Deleting the App does not, by itself, necessarily delete information associated with an online account.
When you use AI-assisted features, such as personalized prayers, Bible explanations, or spiritual guidance, we process the messages, requests, and relevant context submitted to generate a response. Relevant context may include information you previously provided for personalization, where that functionality is enabled.
Your messages may contain sensitive information about religion, health, relationships, family, or personal challenges. Please share only what is appropriate for the feature you are using.
If you choose to enable Alma's app-blocking functionality, we process information needed to configure and operate it. This may include the application or category selections you make through Apple's Family Controls interface, opaque application tokens provided by Apple, schedules, and related blocking settings.
These features rely on Apple-provided permissions and frameworks. We use information obtained through Apple's Screen Time-related frameworks to provide and maintain the app-blocking functionality you request, not for advertising or advertising measurement. We do not provide your selected-app tokens or detailed Screen Time information to advertising partners.
If you purchase a subscription or other paid feature, we may receive information such as a transaction identifier, subscription product, purchase date, renewal or expiration date, subscription status, and entitlement status. Payments may be handled by Apple or, for eligible web purchases, a payment provider such as Stripe. Our subscription management provider may also process purchase and entitlement records.
We generally do not receive full payment card numbers from Apple or our payment processors. Those providers process payment information under their own terms and privacy notices.
We and our service providers may collect technical and usage information, such as app version, operating system, device model, language, approximate country or region inferred from technical signals, app interactions, feature events, crash reports, diagnostic logs, and pseudonymous installation or device-related identifiers.
Usage analytics are not necessarily anonymous. Even when a name is not attached, an identifier may make usage data personal information under applicable law. We do not characterize all analytics as anonymous.
If you contact us, subscribe to communications, or interact with messages we send, we may process your email address, message contents, support history, delivery information, and email engagement events. If you enable push notifications, we may process a device push token and notification preferences.
When you visit an Alma website or interact with our web-to-app checkout or advertising campaigns, cookies, pixels, SDKs, and similar technologies may collect website activity, campaign information, referral source, checkout events, and online identifiers, as permitted by your choices and applicable law. Some transfers for advertising attribution or remarketing may be treated as a "sale," "sharing," or "targeted advertising" under certain privacy laws, even where no money is exchanged for the information.
We do not send the text of private prayers or AI conversations to advertising platforms for targeting.
We process information to:
We do not use the text of private prayers or AI chats to create advertising audiences or target advertisements. We do not use Apple Family Controls data for advertising purposes.
Because Alma is a Christian prayer and Bible study service, information you voluntarily provide may disclose religious beliefs or practices. AI messages and prayer requests might also include health information or other sensitive personal information.
We use this information only for the relevant features and other purposes specifically disclosed to you. For individuals protected by the GDPR or similar laws, where processing requires an additional legal condition for special-category data, we rely on an applicable condition, including explicit consent where required. If we request explicit consent, you may withdraw it later; withdrawing consent will not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal, but may limit the availability of relevant features.
We do not sell the content of private prayers or AI conversations or use that content for targeted advertising. We do not treat your use of a Christian app, on its own, as permission to use information about religious beliefs for unrelated purposes.
AI-assisted features require us to transmit your request and relevant context to external AI technology providers that process the information on our behalf or under their applicable terms. Information is transmitted using encrypted connections where supported by the service.
AI providers may process and temporarily retain requests and outputs for service delivery, security, abuse prevention, and other permitted purposes, depending on their agreements and the configurations used by Alma. We do not use private AI conversations to train our own general-purpose AI models. A provider’s retention practices and any use of submitted information for model improvement or training depend on the provider and the applicable agreement and configuration. Contact us if you would like information about the AI providers currently used by Alma and their data-handling practices.
AI outputs can be incorrect or incomplete. Alma's AI features are intended to support personal prayer and Bible exploration and are not a substitute for professional medical, legal, or other regulated advice.
Alma's optional app-blocking features use Apple's Family Controls, Managed Settings, and related Screen Time technologies. You choose whether to grant permission, which apps or categories to select, and which schedules to set. You can manage or revoke the relevant permissions in your device settings, although doing so may disable the blocking features.
Data made available through these frameworks is used for the personal device-management features you request and not for behavioral advertising, advertising measurement, or unrelated profiling. Apple's operating system controls parts of this functionality, and specific capabilities may vary by device or software version.
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases depend on the activity:
If we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time using an available in-app control or by contacting us. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you may object in circumstances provided by law.
We may disclose the minimum information needed to the following categories of recipients:
Where vendors process personal information for us, we require appropriate contractual and security protections. Some providers independently determine how they process certain information (for example, app-store transactions), in which case their privacy policies also apply.
We do not share private prayer text, AI conversation text, or Apple Family Controls-derived information with advertising partners for targeting or advertising measurement.
Committed Tech Ventures is based in the United States, and service providers may process information in the United States or other countries. Those countries may have data protection laws different from those where you live.
Where applicable law requires safeguards for cross-border transfers, we use an appropriate transfer mechanism, such as European Commission-approved Standard Contractual Clauses, an applicable adequacy decision, or another lawful mechanism. You can contact us to ask about transfer safeguards relevant to your information.
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, taking into account service requirements, the data category, legal obligations, security needs, and your deletion requests.
When the applicable retention period ends, we delete or de-identify information, unless further retention is permitted or required by law. Information you delete may temporarily remain in backups or with independent providers until their retention cycles expire.
You can request permanent deletion of your Alma account within the App through the account settings and the account deletion option. We may request reasonable confirmation to protect against unauthorized deletion.
Account deletion initiates the removal of your account and personal information associated with it that we control and are not legally required to retain. This includes personal content stored in account-linked systems where applicable. We also take appropriate steps concerning relevant service-provider records, subject to their roles, technical capabilities, and legal obligations.
Deleting the App alone may remove information stored locally on your device, but does not necessarily delete your account or account-related data held by our service providers. Likewise, account deletion may not remove information that remains independently on your device or in your device backups.
Subscription notice: Deleting your account does not necessarily cancel an active subscription managed by Apple or another payment provider. Cancel the subscription through the provider where you purchased it to avoid further charges. Account deletion remains available even if you have an active subscription.
If you cannot access the App or need help with a deletion request, email media@almaprayer.com.
Depending on where you live and the applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information, as well as to restrict or object to processing and withdraw consent. Some rights are subject to legal exceptions.
You can also:
To exercise privacy rights, email media@almaprayer.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on certain requests. We will respond within periods required by applicable law.
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, you may have the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection to certain processing, and withdrawal of consent. You may also lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority.
If you object to processing based on legitimate interests, we will assess the objection as required by law. If you withdraw consent, we will stop the relevant consent-based processing prospectively unless another lawful basis applies.
Where an EEA or UK representative is legally required, we will publish their contact details in this Policy.
Residents of certain U.S. states may have rights to know or access, correct, delete, and obtain copies of personal information, and to opt out of qualifying sales, sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, or targeted advertising, subject to the applicability of the relevant state law and its exceptions.
We do not sell private prayers or AI conversation content. Certain advertising or attribution practices involving identifiers and conversion events may be regulated as "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under applicable state laws. Where those laws apply, we will provide any required notices and opt-out mechanisms and honor verified requests.
You may submit a privacy request to media@almaprayer.com. We do not discriminate against users for exercising applicable privacy rights.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including access controls and encrypted network transmission where appropriate. No internet service, device, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should protect your account credentials and device access.
Alma is intended for individuals 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly permit children under 18 to register for an account or intentionally collect their personal information. If we discover that we have collected such information contrary to this Policy, we will take appropriate steps to delete it, subject to legal requirements. Parents or guardians may contact us at media@almaprayer.com.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in Alma, our information practices, or legal requirements. We will post the revised version with a new "Last updated" date and provide additional notice when appropriate. Where applicable law requires consent for a new processing activity, we will seek that consent before undertaking the activity.
